News from [kœri]werk: It's all about vegan sausage!
17.11.2025Dear students,
Unfortunately, our previous vegan sausage, which you have been able to enjoy at [kœri]werk (and can continue to enjoy until 21 November), is no longer being produced. So we set out to find a really good alternative. After intensive research, we selected four different vegan sausage varieties that made it onto the shortlist. But which one should ultimately make it into [kœri]werk? To find out, we organised a tasting session with students – and brought in some real experts: representatives of the vegan university group and the environmental department of KIT-AStA, among others.
Together, they tested, compared and evaluated the sausages, giving them school grades for appearance, smell, taste and consistency. The jury was committed to the task, critically evaluating, discussing and tasting all four varieties. A huge thank you to everyone who took part – for your commitment, your feedback and your hunger for good, sustainable canteen innovations! After this intensive testing phase, the favourite was finally decided: our new vegan winner sausage!
It is made from pea protein with peas from Germany, is also produced in Germany, and is even made using electricity from renewable energies. In addition, it is completely free of palm oil – a real plus in terms of sustainability.
Thanks to its particularly low-allergen composition, the sausage contains only one allergen: wheat.
From 24 November 2025, the time will have come: you will be able to get the new vegan currywurst at [kœri]werk!
Come by, try it out and tell us what you think – your feedback is important to us so that [kœri]werk can continue to be your favourite place for good food on campus.
