Private accommodation service

Karlsruhe has more than 300,000 citizens and well over 30,000 students. More than one in ten citizens go to one of the nine universities in the city.

Despite the nearly 2,662 rooms managed by the Studierendenwerk, students are dependent on a functioning private housing market in Karlsruhe and Pforzheim. In Karlsruhe, the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe has therefore established a private accommodation service that arranges between 2,500 and 3,000 rooms from private persons to students each year.

As a student you can "search for private accommodation" in and around Karlsruhe or as a landlord you can place an offer for an apartment or room.

The private accommodation service is free of charge for landlords as well as tenants.
  • Landlords can of course also place their offers commission-free by phone at 0721/6909-192.
  • Students can use this site to search for the right offer.

We wish you good luck!

Please note:
Students can sometimes be victims of dubious housing providers. Students are required to pay an amount in cash or Bank transfer in advance if they want to receive the rental contract. We strongly advise not to pay the landlord – especially if it is a stranger – in order to receive the rental contract. (cf. advance-fee scam). Usually than money is gone. Please contact us at, if you stumbled upon such an offer.
