Graduate Psychologist in Systemic Therapy.Studied Psychology in Landau, Graduated in April 2000. Two-year Intern at the Counseling office with subsequent diploma thesis (“Reasons for not seeking psychotherapeutic counseling”). Employed since April 2000. Currently completing further training in systemic therapy at the Institute for Family Therapy Weinheim (IFW).
My ResumeI was born on April 26th, 1971 in Rendesburg, Schleswig Holstein. From there, we moved around a lot for work. I grew up in Bremen, Kingston (New York), Hannover, Herrenberg (south of Stuttgart), Raleigh (North Carolina) and Highland Village (by Dallas, TX). I did my “Abi” at the University of North Texas and then, after returning home and a year of careful consideration and an instructive job as a bicycle salesman, I got to know beautiful Landau in the Palatinate via the ZVS and studied there. A small, modest university where everyone knows everyone and the proportion of women is 80 percent - the complete opposite of Karlsruhe.
My interest for Psychology grew – very mundane – out of the fascination for the motivations of human behavior. Before this, I was interested in criminal behaviors, so I began my studies with the intention of later working in forensic psychology, if possible with the police or the secret service. A long, sobering conversation with a Head Commissioner and diverse, encouraging experiences in clinical Psychology saved me just in time from this intention.
As I never really felt the passion to work in the ‘‘free economy‘‘ (and possibly wearing suits and fabricating Powerpoint presentations), I began to be interested in the profession of Therapist. From June 1998, I work as an intern at the PBS. Through the various approaches and methods I was taught in my internship, I could make good decisions regarding my professional development. Initially, I wanted to train in client-centered therapy (talk therapy). As my personal style developed in a different direction, especially since I started working as an employee in April 2000, I began further training as a systemic therapist at the Institute for Family Therapy Weinheim (IFW) in June 2001. It is always surprising (and ultimately encouraging) for me to see the interdependencies that exist in families over several generations and the resources that underlie these patterns.
Wenn I was not studying Psychology, I was a musican. I play piano, guitar, Percussion, sing, and compose in all Styles from NeoFolk, Hardrock, Grunge, Pop, College (Emo) to Jazz, Acid Jazz, Classic….you name it.
At the end of my Internship, I drafted my Thesis at the PBS. The topic: ‘‘Reasons for the non-utilization of psychotheraputic counseling’’. In addition to my daily work, it is a constant concern of mine to dispel prejudices against psychotherapy - and especially against those who seek it out! - to refute them.
