Studying without obstacles? Is that even possible?

Hardly! Friedrich Nietzsche already claimed: "Obstacles and difficulties are steps on which we climb upwards". Okay. But then please be wheelchair accessible.

And we help you with that! Or rather he helps you. Our Disability Officer of the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe: Horst Brandschert. He makes sure that your student life on campus and in the halls of residence is a success. Questions like: "Where can I get a parking permit? Which hall of residence is best for living with my disability? Where can I exchange information with other students with disabilities? What contact persons are there at my university?", he can answer these for you.

He is happy to be of service to you via phone, email or in person.

BARRIER FREE LIVING
"Accessibility" is the keyword that legally regulates the construction of public facilities. Unfortunately, many older buildings have not yet been built according to the guidelines of paragraph 38 of the Landesbauordnung. Information about the presence or absence of structural measures in buildings and lecture halls at KIT Karlsruhe that are adapted to the needs of people with disabilities can be found on the Information page for people with special needs of the KIT Karlsruhe.

Far beyond the actual need, the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe offers barrier-free rooms and flats for students with special needs, especially in Karlsruhe, but also in Pforzheim. In Karlsruhe, all 72 rooms in the residence Klosterweg 7 are accessible barrier free. Barrier-free living is also possible in the residence Willy-Andreas-Allee 11, where four single rooms with shower and WC are available in a disabled-friendly residential group. In Pforzheim, there is also a disabled-friendly flat with four single rooms in the residence Hagenschießstraße 1 and 3, again all with shower and WC.
